The Comfort of Routine

As eventful as the holidays are and as much as we look forward to them, by the time the middle of January rolls around we gladly welcome and embrace the comfort of our usual daily activities that form part of our life’s routine. We like, need and even start to crave routine when we don’t have it. This is because we gain comfort in the familiar. The usual goings-on provide us with a sense of grounding. The rhythm of predictability gives us the feeling of order and makes us feel in control. There is, however, a tipping point associated with routine.
